C.R. Herro is the Vice President of Environmental Affairs for Meritage Homes; the 9th largest homebuilder in the United States. C.R. leads Meritage’s Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Program which combines design, energy efficiency, water management, sustainability, and new technologies to establish a new standard in home building that provide better comfort, healthier air, and are cheaper to own and operate. Every home Meritage builds exceeds, in some communities by as much as five times, the energy efficiency standards established by EPA and DOE’s Energy Star for Homes.

C.R. Herro has spent 20 years in national and multinational construction businesses as a corporate leader in environmental, land, and public relations. C.R. earned a Bachelors of Science at Arizona State University in Physical and Life Science, Masters in Environmental Policy from Governors State and Masters in Environmental Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. C.R. led research and program design for environmental pollution control, remediation, and business development throughout the US and his processes have established new methods in flue gas desulfurization, industrial process design, land redevelopment, and building design.

C.R. is the Vice President of Environmental Affairs for Meritage Homes; the 9th largest homebuilder in the United States, operating across the Southern and Western states. C.R. is charged with evolving Meritage’s Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Program which focuses on establishing new energy efficient benchmarks for production homebuilders. C.R. led the establishment of the Meritage Green program which combines contemporary design, energy efficiency, water management, and new technologies to produce homes that provide better comfort, superior components, healthier air, and are cheaper to own and operate. Every home Meritage builds meets the energy efficiency and sustainability standards, which are validated by third party building and energy scientists to exceed the current EPA and DOE Energy Star for Homes standard.

CR has worked extensively with national and state industry associations to develop legislation and regulatory compliance tools. C.R. was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Arizona Rock Products Association and Chairman of the Maricopa Mine Zoning Commissions. He has also been a speaker at conferences for the EPA, NSSGA, NRMCA, IAAP, ARPA, Arizona State Department of Housing, Arizona Corporation Commission, and the ASU School of Construction.
